Conquering the World's Conquerer

"Pray keep the English quiet if you can. Let them all prepare to move, but neither be in a flurry or a fright, as all will yet turn out well."

Duke of Wellington, letter to
Sir Charles Stuart from the Battle of Waterloo, June 18, 1815

I saw this today while reading about the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo. Wellesley (the Iron Duke) is either talking to an old relative of mine, or my father (Charles) is a lot older than I thought he was.

Well done Dad! Well done indeed. And well done to Wellesley, for conquering the world's conqueror 192 years ago today.

Napoleon was also known as "that short dead dude" as Ted (Keanu Reeves) said so eloquently in the movie "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure".
